As an Anti-Aging medicine researcher, author and lecturer, I have been driven to investigate what would be considered natural alternatives to aging and disease. Several years ago a friend of mine asked me to look into this plant that was indigenous to Africa and the southern aspects of Asia. Four years later, my fifteenth book, Moringa Oleifera: Magic Myth or Miracle, had arrived. Moringa Oleifera, a tree that can grow in the worst climatic conditions and thrive where others cannot, may be the most phytonutrient-complete plant on this planet. It contains close to one hundred nutrients, if not more, and according to the National Institute of Health, Moringa Oleifera can cause the body to overcome more than three hundred diseases.[1]
For centuries, the people who are indigenous to the native habitat of this plant have been ravaged by malnutrition and the commensurate associated diseases, yet they were crushing the seeds found in the pods of this tree for the oil to be used as a fuel source. The seeds themselves are quite efficient in the task of purifying water, quite useful when we consider the fact that every eight seconds a child dies of a water-borne disease somewhere on this planet. My interest in this Moringa stems from the knowledge that poor nutrition has been linked to the major chronic diseases, immune system dysfunction and premature aging that are affecting the global population, leading to a decreased quality of life. When you combine this fact with the knowledge that 85 to 96% of disease is due to environmental factors, the potential exists for a major impact on global health.
